Heart Health and Far Infrared Heat Therapy – A Natural Approach

Image

For thousands of years, far infrared heat has been considered a natural way to treat illness and prevent disease. Recent research studies are proving the efficacy of using far infrared heat for cardiovascular conditions and congestive heart failure. There is an excellent article published be Alternative Medicine Review on the benefits of far infrared – including specifics on how it has treated patients with cardiovascular dysfunction. Below are excerpt from the article, as well as a link to the original publication.

Abstract:   Saunas appear to be an effective form of treatment for various forms of heart disease. Despite concerns to the contrary, saunas are not associated with increased mortality from sudden cardiac death or myocardial infarction (MI) in countries that routinely use saunas. Only 1.7 percent of the 6,175 sudden deaths in Finland occurred within 24 hours of taking a sauna. A total of 77 deaths occurred in saunas in Sweden during an 11-year period (1992-2003). Of those deaths, 71 percent were directly related to elevated blood alcohol levels rather than cardiovascular factors.

Sauna therapy has been used for hundreds of years in the Scandinavian region as a standard health activity. Studies document the effectiveness of sauna therapy for persons with hypertension, congestive heart failure, and for post-myocardial infarction care. Some individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic fatigue, chronic pain, or addictions also find benefit. Existing evidence supports the use of saunas as a component of depuration (purification or cleansing) protocols for environmentally-induced illness.

While far-infrared saunas have been used in many cardiovascular studies, all studies applying sauna for depuration have utilized saunas with radiant heating units. Overall, regular sauna therapy (either radiant heat or far-infrared units) appears to be safe and offers multiple health benefits to regular users. One potential area of concern is sauna use in early pregnancy because of evidence suggesting that hyperthermia might be teratogenic. (Altern Med Rev 2011;16(3):215-225)

If you can improve your circulation, you can improve your long-term health and wellness. Our blood carries all the properties to maintain optimal health. Nutrition, oxygen, healing properties and genetic information are all communicated in our blood. The thermal effect
of far infrared heat is absorbed deep within tissue layers causing the blood vessels to expand or dilate, improving local blood circulation and increasing our metabolic rate, without increasing blood pressure. This enhances blood flow to peripheral vessels, enriching vital oxygen delivery to organs, joints and extremities. In turn this effect improves the healing of sprains and strains, relieving pain and reducing the time it takes the human body to recover from an injury and heal from wounds. The rate at which our bodies absorb nutrition, nutra-ceuticals, other supplements as well as medications is also improved. Many conditions that inhibit blood flow such as sickle cell anemia and diabetes benefit from the improvement of circulation through the use of far infrared heat therapy.

This is valuable information that needs to be passed on to anyone you know. Far infrared heat therapy should be an integral part of medial therapies for multiple disorders as well as should be used by the general public to maintain overall health and wellness.
